I sat and listened to them for a while but eventually I had to speak up and explain my take on where I felt the lyrics came from. Some friends and I actually talked about this song recently and everyone else took it as he had lost a great love and now his heart is like a stone and he feels he will never have what he lost again. And all of this struggling has left him feeling like an empty shell and because of that empty feeling he believes his heart has turned to stone. That being said I agree that this is about a guy that knows the struggle of dealing with some battles that life has thrown at him or maybe he is living with some choices he has made in his life that has caused him pain and heartache or even loss. This song is one of my absolute favorites! Song lyrics have the ability to touch or grab a hold of people for so many different reasons and their take on the meaning of the song could be totally different from our own. You’ll have to tell me what you think of this one. He’s just kind of going through the motions now.īut it could also be about losing someone or about being left by someone and how that can leave you. He’s wondering if his heart has turned to stone. I think what’s happened is that he’s looking at the way his life has gone and he’s wondering if it’s kind of sucked the life out of him. My take on it is that we have this guy that’s kind of struggling with life. I can see why they have a large following.Īnyway, this song is left open for interpretation. They certainly don’t sound like many other acts today. They’re kind of throwback while also bringing something fresh to their sound. They sound like they’re from another era in rock and country and it really works for them. These guys definitely have the Southern Rock thing going on. They have a good song with this one that people seem to be really digging. This band has been grinding it out for quite some time it seems. We’ve looked at Whiskey Myers one time before way back in 2014. And because it doesn’t happen all the time I know that it’s usually going to be a pretty cool song when she does ask. She doesn’t request that I review many songs, but once in awhile she does. And I know she’s been listening to it on her favorites list on Spotify.
